Hey All! Welcome to the first adulting 101 help page. I want to start on something easy that we all should have but maybe we aren’t the best at understanding them or you just hate human interaction and have avoided getting one. Either way here is a crash course on Checking Accounts!
To get more information we had the help from PNC Bank!

So a checking account is what is normally connected to a debit card. It is an account where you put the money you made and want to spend. It normally is connected to a savings account. Checking accounts normally gain a little bit of interest as you go! To start one there normally is a minimum amount that must be placed into the account and paid for at all times. The best part is you can access it from a mobile device to check how much money is there.
There are many many reasons why you need one of these. This is where money from your job will go. This is how you will store most of your cash. And this is what will be your secret twizzler account later!
At PNC if you are a student you can get an account that will be cheap to maintain and stay that way for six years. Student accounts will be truly yours too, not your parents. Remember, the whole idea here is a safe place to put YOUR money.

To open one is simple. You walk into a local bank or make an appointment about opening your own checking account. At that point a person will come help you through the process of depositing the initial amount into you account (Varies depending on banks, PNC Standard account is normally $500 in the account at all times). You sign paperwork, get a debit card, and then you walk out with a new account ready to take on the world one step at a time.
So if any of that was a little confusing let me know! I can answer any questions or connect you to people who can help. Thank you all and stay tuned for our next adulting lesson!
