Good morning my loves! Over the weekend I had the pleasure of watching Shawshank Redemption. I followed the tale of Andy Dufresne from unfair imprisonment, to untold abuses, to happy education, to eventual freedom. It is told from the point of view of Andys good prison friend, Morgan Freeman (Red) from when he meets Andy to the end. As I am writing this it is hard to even put down my thoughts but here it goes!
Initial Thoughts:
At first glance I was horrified. There was so much violence and abuse. In the first 15 minutes I was witness to several beatings and many prison guards acting like total asses. I was sitting there with Horatio, who had seen it before, and he told me to wait. It got better. I had a hard time believing it but I had faith so I took a deep breath, grabbed a soda, and pushed on.
During the Film:
It got better. It did. Andy got to shine in so many ways. He created a library and he met some cool guys who supported him. I didn’t love the prison but I had a huge place in my heart for all of the guys, including knock off Elvis. When he died I was sad and needed a few seconds of a break. It was a bit much. Like game of thrones, everytime I loved a character they either died or got major abuse. It was sad and heart breaking.
Final Thoughts:
For all my complaints and being upset I loved the film. It made me feel so many things. I didn’t know what to think or how to feel or anything. I was so excited.
Thank you all for listening to my rant!
