Adulting is a crazy world. One of the ways to make it less crazy and get ahead in the world is by doing a fun little thing called networking.

The dictionary defines networking as “the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts.” For many new adults this is scary and not fun. But we have some time tested tools to make it work.
One: Connect to Alumni in your area.
These people went to the same school and have a lot of things in common with you. Many groups of alumni exist to network. Also, plus side fun events and good food.
Two: Go places using Meetup or Eventbrite.
This is an app that creates online communities that post events to go to. Some are purely social, fun and networking all at once! Some are more professional events that are made for networking purposes. You can also sign up to go to conferences, they are always fun.

Three: Stay Caught Up with Your Field.
When you go to these places and chat with people in your field you want make a good impression and sound knowledgeable. A great way to do that is know what you are talking about. Do things like read up on things online and watch videos!
Four: Ask for help!
You already have something of a network through friends, family, and people you went to school with. Use them! They love to help and you can help them when they need it later on. Reach out and connect.
I know that it is harder currently to find opportunities but don’t give up. Search , connect, and keeping kicking butt.
