70.3 Triathlon Training Update

Greetings everyone,

This is Horatio checking in.

As some of you may be aware, I am currently in training for a half Ironman (70.3) scheduled for July 2024. I wanted to take a moment to update you on my progress, my current focus areas, and how I’m feeling overall.

Current Progress:

While my official training doesn’t kick off until March 1st, I’ve been diligently building my endurance. I dedicate myself to biking twice a week, pounding the pavement with my runs, and hitting the pool for swimming sessions. However, I must admit that swimming has been a bit of a struggle. Despite my best efforts, I’ve found it challenging to meet my goal of hitting the pool twice weekly. Presently, I manage an hour on Tuesdays with the best of intentions.

Focus Areas:

Swimming can be tough

This seamlessly transitions into what I’ve been focusing on lately. My swimming technique requires attention; while my endurance is acceptable, my speed leaves much to be desired. Additionally, I find myself battling mental fatigue during long bike rides indoors. I’m hopeful that transitioning to outdoor rides will invigorate me. If any of you have valuable insights or advice on these matters, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I view this journey as an ongoing learning experience.

Current State of Mind:

In all honesty, I’m feeling quite fatigued. Balancing the demands of work and training while prioritizing proper sleep and nutrition has proven to be a significant challenge. Nonetheless, I’m buoyed by an underlying sense of strength and determination.

I deeply appreciate your continued support and interest in my journey. Your advice and encouragement mean the world to me.

Warm regards,
Horatio
